Celebrate  Recovery

What  is  Celebrate  Recovery?

Celebrate Recovery is a Christ centered, 12 step recovery program for anyone struggling with a hurt, habit, or hang-up that was founded in 1991 as a ministry of Saddleback Church by Pastor John and Cheryl Baker. John shared with Senior Pastor Rick Warren a vision God had given him for a new Christ-centered ministry where people could find freedom from the issues controlling their lives.

Thousands of churches have started a Celebrate Recovery ministry around the world, and that number continues to grow. Celebrate Recovery is not just growing in churches, but in recovery houses, rescue missions, universities, and prisons around the world. It continues to be a growing
global movement.

The need for Celebrate Recovery is unmistakable, being a safe place for people to find freedom from the issues controlling their lives.

Issues that can be controlling our lives could include (but is not limited to):

Chemical dependency
Relationship addiction
Family dysfunction
Compulsive behavior
Physical/emotional/sexual abuse
Alcoholism
Eating disorders
Co-dependency
Sexual addiction

Additional Resources

The 8 Principles of Recovery were created by Pastor Rick Warren after finding that the principles of recovery — in their logical order — were given by Christ in His most famous message, the Sermon on the Mount. The principles and 12 steps work together as a road map to healing.
The 12 steps were originally developed in and for Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). They have been adapted to focus on Jesus Christ, as the one and only true higher power, and to include all recovery issues. The principles and 12 steps work together as a road map to healing.
